Almroth studied at {{Interlanguage link|Elin Svensson (actress)|lt=Elin Svensson's|sv|Elin Svensson}} theatre school and made her stage debut in 1908. She was one of the first major stars of Swedish cinema, appearing in more than 30 films. After ''The People of Simlang Valley'' in 1924, Almroth took a decade-long break from film, spending a few years in the United States and then touring the stages of major rural towns with {{Interlanguage link|Knut Lindroth|sv}}.<ref>Obituary in ''Svenska Dagbladet'', 15 August 1981 p.12</ref> She was a member of the women's association Nya Idun.
