===Youth and Varsity rugby===
Nortier represented the South Western Districts at youth level, playing for them at the Under-16 Grant Khomo Week in 2005 and the Under-18 Craven Week tournaments in 2006 and 2007.
He then moved to Potchefstroom, joining the {{Rut|Leopards}}. He played for the {{Rut|Leopards U19}} side in the 2008 Under-19 Provincial Championship competition and for the {{Rut|Leopards U21}} side in the Under-21 competitions in 2009 and 2010.
He also played Varsity Cup rugby for the Potchefstroom-based university {{Rut|NWU Pukke}}, representing them in the 2012 and 2013 editions of the tournament. After his successful season in the 2012 Varsity Cup, Nortier was included in the {{Rut|Leopards}} squad for the 2012 Vodacom Cup competition.
