In 1924, at only 20 years old, he founded the French-speaking Lebanese daily ''L'Orient,'' which in 1971 became ''L'Orient-Le Jour''<ref name=":1">{{Cite web|last=Naccache|first=Georges|date=1982-09-01|title=" Deux négations... "|url=https://www.monde-diplomatique.fr/1982/09/A/36936|access-date=2021-03-21|website=Le Monde diplomatique|language=fr}}</ref> after merging with ''Le Jour''<ref>{{Cite web|title=Who we are|url=https://today.lorientlejour.com/who-we-are|access-date=2021-03-21|website=L'Orient Today}}</ref>''.''

In 1936, he participated in the foundation of the Kataeb Party with Pierre Gemayel and Charles Helou, but left the party one year later in 1937,<ref name=":1" /> just like President Helou did.

He is the author of a famous editorial published on March 10, 1949, under the title: "Two negations do not make a nation", which earned him three months in prison,<ref name=":1" /> and six months suspension from L'Orient.<ref name=":0" />
