[[File:Kelham Hall.jpg|thumb|Kelham Hall]] Manners-Sutton was the eldest son of [[Lord George Manners-Sutton]] and educated at [[Eton School]] and [[Trinity College, Cambridge]]. He succeeded his father in 1783, inheriting [[Kelham Hall]] near Newark.
