Commodore '''George Emptage''' (bapt. 27 March 1733 – 1785) was a Bombay Marine officer who served in the Second Anglo-Mysore War.<ref name="ET">{{cite web |last1=Morris |first1=Susan |last2=Martin-Taylor |first2=Michele |title=George Emptage, Commodore, Bombay Marine, East India Company |url=https://emptageofthanet.co.uk/people/george-emptage-commodore-bombay-marine-east-india-company/ |website=Emptages of Thanet |publisher=Susan Morris |accessdate=4 September 2019 |date=25 January 2017}}</ref> Emptage was the son of Thomas Emptage, a mariner and his second wife, Elizabeth Watson, of Rotherhithe.<ref name="ET"/> During the late periods of the war, Tipu Sultan had been forced to retreat.
