The Freedent brand is also used in France as a rebranding of [[Orbit (gum)|Orbit/Extra]]. It launched there in 1987.<ref>{{Cite web |title=Découvrez l’histoire de FREEDENT |url=https://www.freedent.fr/decouvrez-lhistoire-de-freedent |website=Freedent.fr |language=fr |quote=Lancement de FREEDENT, le 1er chewing-gum sans sucres.}}</ref> It has also been marketed as such in the Netherlands.<ref>{{Cite web |date=2019-04-24 |title=Freedent vindt zichzelf opnieuw uit |url=https://www.levensmiddelenkrant.nl/freedent-vindt-zichzelf-opnieuw-uit?_lang=nl |access-date=2025-10-08 |website=www.levensmiddelenkrant.nl |language=nl}}</ref>

==History== Freedent was first developed by the Wrigley Company after receiving a large amount of feedback from customers who had issues with regular gum sticking to their dental work. Freedent was designed using a new type of gum base that would not stick to most dental work, allowing those who had trouble chewing traditional gum to chew it with minimal sticking. At the time of its debut in 1975, it was the first new major Wrigley's brand to be released in the US in 53 years.<ref name=":0">{{Cite news |date=June 20, 2004 |title=THE GOODS; Wrigley's Second Chance to Smile |url=https://www.nytimes.com/2004/06/20/business/the-goods-wrigley-s-second-chance-to-smile.html |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20190811214259/https://www.nytimes.com/2004/06/20/business/the-goods-wrigley-s-second-chance-to-smile.html |archive-date=2019-08-11 |access-date=2025-10-08 |work=[[The New York Times]] |language=en}}</ref><ref name = Freedent3 /> It was also released that same year in the British market.<ref name=":0" />

As of 2009, the Freedent brand was active in the US, Canada, France and New Zealand.<ref>{{Cite web |title=Wrigley.com :: Freedent |url=http://www.wrigley.com/global/brands/freedent.aspx |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20091023053702/http://www.wrigley.com/global/brands/freedent.aspx |archive-date=2009-10-23 |access-date=2025-10-08 |website=www.wrigley.com}}</ref>
