Fred Tubby

The son of Reg Tubby, also an MP, he was born in Morawa, Western Australia. In 1988 he was elected in a by-election to the Western Australian Legislative Assembly as the Liberal member for Dale, moving to the new seat of Roleystone the following year.<ref name=":0" /> During this period, he was serving alongside his father until 1989.<ref name=":0" /> In 1989 he was appointed Shadow Minister for the Family, Seniors and Consumer Affairs, exchanging Education for Family in 1990 and becoming simply Shadow Minister for Education in 1992.<ref name=":0" /> In February 1993, he was accused of making derogatory remarks about students with disabilities by the Minister for Education, Kay Hallahan.<ref>{{Cite web|title=Opposition asked to investigate alleged derogatory remarks|url=https://www.wa.gov.au/government/media-statements/Lawrence%20Labor%20Government/Opposition-asked-to-investigate-alleged-derogatory-remarks-19930204|website=Western Australian Government|access-date=2025-11-29|language=en|date=4 February 1993|last=Hallahan|first=Kay}}</ref> Following the Liberal victory in the 1993 Western Australian state election, he became a parliamentary secretary, which he remained throughout the two terms of Liberal government.<ref name=":0" /> He lost his seat in 2001.<ref name=":0" /><ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.parliament.wa.gov.au/Parliament%5CMemblist.nsf/WAllMembersFlat/Tubby,+Frederick+%28Fred%29+Charles?opendocument|title=Mr Frederick (Fred) Charles Tubby|publisher=Parliament of Western Australia}}</ref>
