== History == The constituency was created in 1984 from a Noakhali constituency when the former Noakhali District was split into three districts: [[Feni District|Feni]], [[Noakhali District|Noakhali]], and [[Lakshmipur District|Lakshmipur]].

Ahead of the [[2008 Bangladeshi general election|2008 general election]], the [[Bangladesh Election Commission|Election Commission]] redrew constituency boundaries to reflect population changes revealed by the [[2001 Bangladesh census]].<ref name="Rahman2010" /> The 2008 redistricting altered the boundaries of the constituency.<ref name="ds11Jul2008" />
