==History== The village was first mentioned in 1335 as Finckum. The etymology is unclear.<ref>{{cite web|url=https://etymologiebank.nl/trefwoord/finkum |title=Finkum - (geografische naam) |website=Etymologiebank |access-date=30 March 2022 |language=nl}}</ref> Feinsum is a very old ''[[terp]]'' (artificial living mound) village which probably had its origins in the beginning of [[Anno Domini|our era]], and has one of the oldest [[Dyke (embankment)|dikes]] of the Netherlands.<ref name="monument"/> There used to be outpost of the monastery {{ill|Mariëngaarde|nl}} in Feinsum.<ref name="plaats"/>
