{{Short description|Wine region in Évora, Alentejo, Portugal}} '''Évora''' is a Portuguese wine region centered on the town of Évora in the Alentejo region. The region was initially a separate ''Indicação de Proveniência Regulamentada'' (IPR) region, but in 2003, it became one of eight subregions of the Alentejo DOC, which has the higher ''Denominação de Origem Controlada'' (DOC) status. Its name may still be indicated together with that of Alentejo, as Alentejo-Évora.<ref>{{cite encyclopedia |editor=Jancis Robinson |encyclopedia=Oxford Companion to Wine |edition=Third |title=Alentejo |year=2006 |publisher=Oxford University Press |location=Oxford |isbn=0-19-860990-6 |page=[https://archive.org/details/oxfordcompaniont00janc/page/11 11] |url=https://archive.org/details/oxfordcompaniont00janc/page/11 }}</ref><ref name="OCW Evora">{{cite encyclopedia |editor=Jancis Robinson |encyclopedia=Oxford Companion to Wine |edition=Third |title=Évora |year=2006 |publisher=Oxford University Press |location=Oxford |isbn=0-19-860990-6 |page=[https://archive.org/details/oxfordcompaniont00janc/page/263 263] |url-access=registration |url=https://archive.org/details/oxfordcompaniont00janc/page/263 }}</ref><ref>[http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=CELEX:52009XC0808(07):EN:NOT List of quality wines produced in specified regions – Official Journal of the European Union C 187/1, 8.8.2009] (reflects situation as of July 31, 2009)</ref>
