==Academic career== After graduating from university, Jackson began her career as a research officer at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies, a research institute of the Faculty of Law, University of Oxford.<ref name="LSE Law" /> In 1991, she was elected a Fellow of St Catharine's College, Cambridge and appointed a lecturer in law.<ref name="Who's Who 2016" /> She then moved to Birkbeck College, University of London where she was a lecturer in law from 1993 to 1997.<ref name="Who's Who 2016" /> In 1998, she joined the London School of Economics for the first time having been appointed as a senior lecturer in law.<ref name="Who's Who 2016" /><ref name="LSE Law" />

From 2004 to 2007, Jackson was Professor of Medical Law at Queen Mary, University of London.<ref name="Who's Who 2016" /><ref name="LSE Law" /> She was appointed Professor of Law at the London School of Economics in 2007<ref name="Who's Who 2016" /> and Head of the Law Department in 2012.<ref name="Who's Who 2016" />

Jackson has held a number of appointments outside of her university work.
