John Edge and his two brothers established the first store in the community. There were two churches and eleven businesses in the community from 1896 to 1897. A general store was opened inside the post office by W.H. McMichael in 1900, with a drugstore and 25 residents. Six years later, J.M. Lawless started a cotton gin. Its population grew to 50 in 1910. A 1948 county highway map showed three churches and four businesses in and around the community. ==Geography== Edge is located on Farm to Market Road 974 near Caney Creek, {{convert|14|mi|km|abbr=on}} north of Bryan in northeastern Brazos County.<ref name="Handbook"/>

==Education== Edge had a high school from 1912 until it burned to the ground in 1940. It then joined the schools in Kurten in 1946.<ref name="Handbook"/> Today, the community is served by the Bryan Independent School District.
