His writings were a rugged portrayal of coming of age in the underbelly of society and heroin addiction.<ref>{{cite news |url=https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/lifestyle/1998/05/10/writing-wrongs-hes-been-a-thug-a-thief-a-junkie-and-a-con-man-now-hes-a-hot-property-has-he-reformed-that-may-not-matter-because-in-hollywood-a-guy-like-eddie-little-can-go-a-long-way/36208e8c-1e47-4fd7-9797-26b693250dc1/ |title=Writing Wrongs |first=Sharon |last=Waxman |author-link=Sharon Waxman |newspaper=The Washington Post |date=May 10, 1998}}</ref> His books were largely autobiographical, and although his supporting characters tended to be fictional, the narrators were almost parallel with himself.
Little died of a heart attack in a Los Angeles motel room, at the age of 48. He was survived by a daughter and two siblings.<ref>{{cite news |url=https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-2003-may-23-me-little23-story.html |title=Eddie Little, 48; L.A.
