==History== David Hockett brought his wife, Mary Jane, and three children to the Earlham area by ox team and wagon in 1865. They settled on 200 acres where Earlham stands today. The median age was 39.5 years. 27.9% of residents were under the age of 18. 31.3% of residents were under the age of 20; 4.5% were from 20 to 24; 22.5% were from 25 to 44; 26.0% were from 45 to 64; and 15.8% were 65 years of age or older. The population density was {{convert|1494.8|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|1}}. There were 571 housing units at an average density of {{convert|588.7|/sqmi|/km2|1}}. The racial makeup of the city was 98.3% White, 0.1% African American, 0.5% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 0.9% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.8% of the population.
