It existed between 1975 and 1992.<ref name=PUCP>{{Cite web |url=http://blog.pucp.edu.pe/blog/juanluisorrego/2011/07/07/el-transporte-publico-en-lima-siglo-xx-enatruperu/ |title=El transporte público en Lima, siglo XX: ENATRUPERÚ |date=2011-07-07 |website=Blog PUCP |last=Orrego Penagos |first=Juan Luis}}</ref>
The company was known for its mustard-coloured Ikarus buses, which were imported from the Hungarian People's Republic<ref name=PUCP/><ref>{{Cite news |title=Ikarus, la 21, Enatru: los buses en los que viajábamos los peruanos antes de la pandemia y el Metropolitano |url=https://elcomercio.pe/somos/historias/ikarus-la-21-enatru-los-buses-en-los-que-viajabamos-los-peruanos-antes-de-la-pandemia-y-el-metropolitano-lima-coronavirus-cuarentena-transporte-publico-noticia/ |last=Villegas |first=Miguel |date=2020-06-11 |work=El Comercio}}</ref> on the orders of then mayor of Lima Eduardo Dibós Chappuis.<ref name=PUCP/> It also owned Büssing buses, originally meant to be used by the company's ill-fated predecessor, the ''Paramunicipal Transport Association'' (APTL).<ref name=PUCP/>
The company's financial troubles began with the country's economic crisis of the 1980s, which worsened due to subversive groups attacking the company's buses due to it being the only one of its type that did not suspend its services at the time. The company was consequently privatized in 1992 and the buses were sold to its employees.<ref>{{Cite news |title=Ikarus: ¿qué pasó con los buses articulados que transitaban por Lima antes que el Metropolitano? |url=https://larepublica.pe/datos-lr/respuestas/2022/08/02/ikarus-por-que-desaparecieron-los-buses-articulado-que-recorrian-lima-antes-que-el-metropolitano-evat |date=2023-01-08 |work=La República}}</ref><ref>{{Cite journal |title=EVALUACIÓN DEL PROCESO DE PRIVATIZACIÓN DE LAS EMPRESAS DE SERVICIOS PÚBLICOS 1991-2000 |journal=Gestión en el Tercer Milenio |url=https://sisbib.unmsm.edu.pe/bibvirtual/publicaciones/administracion/v05_n9/evaluacion_proceso.htm |last=Castillo Maza |first=Juan |date=2002-10-01 |issue=9}}</ref>
