The '''DH180''' is V4 piston diesel aircraft engine developed for aircraft applications by DeltaHawk of Racine, Wisconsin. The engine was type certified on April 7, 2023.<ref name="E00022CH">{{cite web|url = https://drs.faa.gov/browse/excelExternalWindow/DRSDOCID129316670820230720180841.0001?modalOpened=true|title = Type Certificate Data Sheet No. E00022CH |accessdate = July 25, 2023|author = Federal Aviation Administration|author-link = Federal Aviation Administration|date = April 7, 2023|archiveurl = https://archive.today/20230725124619/https://drs.faa.gov/browse/excelExternalWindow/DRSDOCID129316670820230720180841.0001%3FmodalOpened%3Dtrue?modalOpened=true|archivedate = July 25, 2023|url-status= live}}</ref>

== Design ==

The design is a four-cylinder, two-stroke, piston diesel engine, in an inverted-V configuration, with turbocharging and supercharging, mechanical fuel injection, liquid cooling, direct drive. It can run on Jet-A or sustainable aviation fuel. The manufacturer claims that it has "40 percent fewer moving parts than other engines in its category."<ref name="E00022CH"/><ref name="Oconnor18May23"/>

== Development ==

In 2014, a DH180 was installed and demonstrated at the EAA Airventure airshow on a Cirrus SR20. A retrofit kit is planned for the SR20.<ref>{{cite journal|journal=AOPA Pilot|title=Diesels on the cusp|author=Jim Moore|page=87|date=March 2015}}</ref>

The engine received its type certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration on April 7, 2023, with first customer deliveries planned for 2024.<ref name="E00022CH"/><ref name="Oconnor18May23">{{cite web|url= https://www.avweb.com/ownership/engines/deltahawk-dhk180-receives-faa-certification/|title= DeltaHawk DHK180 Receives FAA Certification|access-date= 19 May 2023|last= O'Connor|first= Kate|work= AVweb|date= 18 May 2023 |archive-url= https://archive.today/20230519114959/https://www.avweb.com/ownership/engines/deltahawk-dhk180-receives-faa-certification/|archive-date= 19 May 2023|url-status= live}}</ref><ref name="CA27May23">{{cite web|url= https://canadianaviator.com/jet-fueled-piston-engine-certified/|title= Jet-Fueled Piston Engine Certified|access-date= 27 May 2023|work= Canadian Aviator |date= 27 May 2023|archive-url= https://archive.today/20230527110653/https://canadianaviator.com/jet-fueled-piston-engine-certified/|archive-date= 27 May 2023|url-status= live}}</ref>
