It is located west of Macedonian Hwy P1305 (Demir Hisar-Bitola), in the valley of the Šemnica River, downstream from the Streževo Dam. It used to be part of the former municipality of Kukurečani.

==Demographics== Crnovec is attested in the Ottoman defter of 1467/68 as a village in the vilayet of Manastir. In statistics gathered by Vasil Kanchov in 1900, the village of Crnovec was inhabited by 500 Muslim Albanians.<ref>Vasil Kanchov (1900).
