Rol received his artistic education at the ''Tekenschool (Edam)'' and at the ''Rijksnormaalschool voor Teekenonderwijzers'' (Amsterdam). He lived and worked in Edam, Amsterdam, [[The Hague]] until 1929 and then in [[Voorburg]].
