The '''Classiculomycetes''' are a class of fungi in the Pucciniomycotina subdivision of the Basidiomycota. The class contains a single order, the '''Classiculales''', which in turn contains the single family '''Classiculaceae'''. The family contains two monotypic genera.<ref name=Kirk2008>{{cite book |vauthors=Kirk PM, Cannon PF, Minter DW, Stalpers JA |title=Dictionary of the Fungi |edition=10th |publisher=CAB International |location=Wallingford, UK |year=2008 |page=147 |isbn=978-0-85199-826-8}}</ref>
They belong to a morpholigical group called "aquatic hyphomycetes" which are fungi that grow on submerged decaying plant matter, but they are also found as mycoparasites and endophytes.<ref name=":0">{{Cite journal |last=Shearer |first=Carol A. |last2=Descals |first2=Enrique |last3=Kohlmeyer |first3=Brigitte |last4=Kohlmeyer |first4=Jan |last5=Marvanová |first5=Ludmila |last6=Padgett |first6=David |last7=Porter |first7=David |last8=Raja |first8=Huzefa A. |last9=Schmit |first9=John P. |last10=Thorton |first10=Holly A. |last11=Voglymayr |first11=Hermann |date=January 2007 |title=Fungal biodiversity in aquatic habitats |url=http://link.springer.com/10.1007/s10531-006-9120-z |journal=Biodiversity and Conservation |language=en |volume=16 |issue=1 |pages=49–67 |doi=10.1007/s10531-006-9120-z |issn=0960-3115|url-access=subscription }}</ref> This is only an informal descriptive group which is divided phylogenetically between asco types (the great majority) and basidio types (a small percentage of hyphomycetes).<ref name=":0" /> The Classiculomycetes belong to the basidiomycete minority.<ref name=Mycokeys>{{cite journal | doi=10.3897/mycokeys.40.23828 | title=Classicula sinensis, a new species of basidiomycetous aquatic hyphomycetes from southwest China | year=2018 | last1=Qiao | first1=Min | last2=Li | first2=Wenjun | last3=Huang | first3=Ying | last4=Xu | first4=Jianping | last5=Zhang | first5=Li | last6=Yu | first6=Zefen | journal=MycoKeys | volume=40 | issue=40 | pages=1–12 | pmid=30271261 | pmc=6160859 | doi-access=free }}</ref>
