Chalon was born in Amsterdam,<ref name="Biografisch">{{cite web|title=Chalon, Christina (1749-1808)|url=http://www.biografischportaal.nl/persoon/19563494|website=Het Biografisch Portaal|accessdate=6 August 2017}}</ref> and studied painting under Sara Troost and Ploos van Amstel.<ref name="DVN">{{cite web|last1=de Haas|first1=Anna|title=Chalon, Christina (1749-1808)|url=http://resources.huygens.knaw.nl/vrouwenlexicon/lemmata/data/chalon|website=DVN|publisher=Huygens ING|accessdate=6 August 2017}}</ref> She, however, devoted herself more particularly to etching, in which she acquired great proficiency. She has left some thirty plates, for the most part in the style of Adriaen van Ostade. She died at Hazerswoude in 1808 and was buried in Leiden. Her etchings are marked with ''Chr<sup>a</sup> Cha.'', or ''Chr<sup>a</sup> Chal.'', or else ''CC.'' Amongst the best may be noticed:
