==History== For many years the shopping centre was considered very small but adequate to the needs of the local population. However, after being purchased by the Behrakis Group in June 2004 the centre underwent a complete transformation to cope with the growing local population. Tasmania's largest [[Big W]] was opened at the shopping centre on 5 April 2006, and it was planned that by 2009 Channel Court would be one of the largest shopping centres in Tasmania.<ref>Newspaper article from [http://www.themercury.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5936,18716108%255E3462,00.html The Mercury], Retrieved 2006-05-05{{failed verification|date=October 2022}}</ref>
