{{Short description|Canadian non-profit organization}} thumb|Canadian Public Health Association logo The '''Canadian Public Health Association''' (CPHA) is a national non-profit organization dedicated to public health.
The association was founded in 1910 by the editors of the ''Public Health Journal'', which became the ''Canadian Public Health Journal'' under the auspices of the new organization. CPHA's objective was to establish professional standards for the field of public health and to advance research in the area. Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Strathearn was named as the patron of the new organization, and its first president was T.A. Starkey of McGill University. CPHA received a federal charter in 1912.<ref>{{cite book|page=2.5|title=This is public health: a Canadian history|author1=Rutty, Christopher |author2=Sullivan, Sue |isbn=978-1-894324-60-1|publisher=Canadian Public Health Association|year=2010}}</ref> The organization celebrated its centenary in 2010.<ref>{{cite news|url=https://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/health-and-fitness/cheers-to-a-century-of-better-public-health-in-canada/article4322199/|work=The Globe and Mail|title=Cheers to a century of better public health in Canada|author=Picard, André|authorlink=André Picard (journalist)|date=16 June 2010}}</ref>
