Eaton was born in [[Grappenhall]] and educated at [[Brasenose College, Oxford]]. He was [[Principal (academia)|Principal]] of [[Gloucester Hall]] from 1662 and 1692;<ref>[https://www.le.ac.uk/lahs/downloads/CocksvolumeLXVII-5sm.pdf University of Leicester]</ref> and [[Rector (ecclesiastical)|Rector]] of [[Nuneham Courtney]] from 1660.
