Wilkinson made a single first-class appearance for Northamptonshire against Middlesex at the Town Ground, Peterborough in the 1932 County Championship.<ref>{{cite web |url-access=subscription |url=https://cricketarchive.com/Archive/Players/33/33868/First-Class_Matches.html|title=First-Class Matches played by Burton Wilkinson|publisher=CricketArchive|accessdate=17 November 2011}}</ref> In Northamptonshire's first-innings he was dismissed for a duck by Jack Durston.
