The '''Burrum River''' is a river in the Wide Bay-Burnett region of Queensland, Australia.
==Course and features== The river rises within Lake Lenthall, impounded by Lenthalls Dam at the confluence of several smaller watercourses including Harwood Creek, Woolmer Creek and Duckinwilla Creek, near the town of Burrum. Below Lenthalls Dam the river is impounded by Burrum River Weir No.2 (built in 1951) and Burrum River Weir No.1 (built in 1900).<ref name="BC" /> The river flows in northerly direction and is crossed by the Bruce Highway near {{QLDcity|Howard}}. The river flows past Pacific Haven before the Isis River joins with the Burrum River at the southern edge of the Burrum Coast National Park. Together with the Gregory River, it discharges into the Burrum Fish Habitat Area in Hervey Bay that flows out to the Coral Sea, at Burrum Heads. The river descends {{convert|27|m}} over its {{convert|31|km|adj=on}} course.<ref name=bonzle/> An estuary is formed at the mouth of the river. The Isis and Gregory Rivers also discharge into the {{convert|12|km|mi|0}} long and between {{convert|2|km|mi|0}} and {{convert|500|m|ft|0}} wide estuary. The area includes intensive inter-tidal flats, shallow sand banks, a meandering main channel with small patched of fringing mangroves.<ref name=BC/>
The catchment area of the river occupies an {{convert|3371|km2|sqmi|0}} of which an area of {{convert|108|km2|sqmi|0}} is composed of riverine wetlands.<ref>{{cite web|url=http://wetlandinfo.ehp.qld.gov.au/wetlands/facts-maps/basin-burrum/|title=Burrum river drainage basin|access-date=23 June 2015|work=WetlandInfo|publisher=Queensland Government|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20150619003733/http://wetlandinfo.ehp.qld.gov.au/wetlands/facts-maps/basin-burrum/|archive-date=19 June 2015|url-status=live}}</ref> The catchment area is generally low and flat and is situated between the Burnett and Mary River catchments.<ref name=BC>{{cite web|url=http://www.bmrg.org.au/files/4813/7826/0787/Burrum_WQIP_GE200812.pdf|title=Burrum Catchment - Water Quality Improvement Plan|access-date=24 June 2015|date=June 2008|publisher=Burnett Mary Regional Group|author=Walker, Michael|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20150322053300/http://www.bmrg.org.au/files/4813/7826/0787/Burrum_WQIP_GE200812.pdf|archive-date=22 March 2015|url-status=dead}}</ref>
