It is a founding member of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the {{ill|Panamerican Standards Commission|es|Comisión Panamericana de Normas Técnicas}} (COPANT), and the {{ill|Mercosur Standards Association|es|Asociación Mercosur de Normalización|pt|Associação Mercosul de Normalização}} (AMN). ABNT is the exclusive representative of Brazil in the international organizations ISO and IEC and in the regional entities COPANT and AMN.<ref name=":0" />
