In the Middle Ages the town was one of the centres of the Dobrzyń Land.
Near Bobrowniki, there is a remarkable power line crossing of the Vistula river.
==History== The town contains ruins of the castle, built at the end of 14th century by Teutonic Knights at the place of a former Polish gród. During the German occupation of Poland (World War II), several local farmers and activists were among the victimes of a massacre of Poles, perpetrated by the Germans in nearby Radomice on October 8, 1939 as part of the genocidal ''Intelligenzaktion'' campaign.<ref>{{cite book|last=Wardzyńska|first=Maria|year=2009|title=Był rok 1939.
