== Career == Tuck has exhibited widely within New Zealand, including:

* ''Double Doors: an'' ''Artist in Focus'' exhibition at Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki in August 1983, in collaboration with Gillian Chaplin.<ref>{{Cite journal |last=Johnston |first=Alexa M. |date=Autumn 1984 |title=Gillian Chaplin and Barbara Tuck: Prints and an Installation |url=http://www.art-newzealand.com/Issues21to30/dd1.htm |journal=Art New Zealand |volume=30}}</ref> By chance, the two artists discovered they were both making small boxes as a framework for sculptural assemblages. Previously Chaplin had concentrated on photography and Tuck on painting, but in this departure from their usual fields of work they found common ground and began work on a shared installation. About twenty small boxes were treated by each artist, and for the installation they were alternated on a long narrow table. Chairs placed around the outside encouraged people to take their time in contemplating the works. The works referenced the Surrealists, in particular the boxes of Joseph Cornell, but with a more feminine viewpoint.<ref>{{Cite book |url= |title=New Zealand Women Artists: A Survey of 150 years |last=Kirker |first=Anne |date=1993 |publisher=Craftsman House |isbn=9768097302 |location=Tortola, BVI |pages=179–181 |oclc=28491897}}</ref> * ''Surface Tension: Ten Artists in the '90s exhibition'' at Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki in 1992, curated by Tina Barton.<ref>{{Cite web |url=https://natlib.govt.nz/records/21457141?search%5Bpath%5D=items&search%5Btext%5D=%22barbara+tuck%22 |title=Surface tension: ten artists in the 90's, Auckland City Art Gallery, 3 September-25 October, 1992 |date=1993 |website=National Library of New Zealand |language=en-NZ |access-date=2025-05-29}}</ref> * ''Necessary Distraction'' featuring 100 works by 20 artists at the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki from November 2015 - March 2016, curated by Natasha Conland.<ref>{{Cite web |url=http://pantograph-punch.com/post/considering-necessary-distraction-a-painting-show |title=Towards Variations on a Theme: Considering 'Necessary Distraction: A Painting Show' |website=Pantograph Punch |language=en |access-date=2018-07-04}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web |url=http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/CU1511/S00078/auckland-art-gallery-toi-o-tamaki-reveals-new-directions.htm |title=Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki reveals new directions {{!}} Scoop News |website=www.scoop.co.nz |access-date=2018-07-04}}</ref><ref>{{Cite news |url=https://www.nbr.co.nz/article/unnecessary-distraction-mars-necessary-distraction-jd-183193 |title=An unnecessary distraction mars Necessary Distraction exhibition |date=2015-12-18 |work=The National Business Review |access-date=2018-07-04 |language=en}}</ref> * ''In the Vast Emptiness'' at Christchurch Art Gallery in 2016.<ref>{{Cite news |url=https://www.pressreader.com/new-zealand/the-press/20160303/281762743342091 |title=Painting transforms itself under every passing glance |date=3 Mar 2016 |work=The Press |access-date=5 July 2018}}</ref>
