Asmatullah contested the seat of the National Assembly from Constituency NA-264 (Zhob-cum-Sherani-cum-Killa Saifullah) as a candidate of Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam Nazryati in the 2013 Pakistani general election but was unsuccessful.
