==Legal issues== Lister was arrested in 2020, on accusations of drugging and raping several young women. Police seized replica pistols, drugs, and electronics. He was refused bail.<ref>{{Cite web|last=Costin|first=Luke|date=2020-07-09|title=NSW artist to go to trial |url=https://www.canberratimes.com.au/story/6826048/nsw-artist-to-go-to-trial-over-rape-claims/|access-date=2022-01-02|website= Canberra Times |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20201101134647/https://www.canberratimes.com.au/story/6826048/nsw-artist-to-go-to-trial-over-rape-claims/ |archive-date=1 November 2020 }}</ref><ref>{{cite web|title=Street artist Anthony Lister charged with obscene Roxy Jacenko graffiti|date=3 April 2021 |url=https://www.smh.com.au/politics/nsw/street-artist-anthony-lister-charged-with-obscene-roxy-jacenko-graffiti-20210402-p57g4w.html|publisher=Sydney Morning Herald|access-date=2022-04-02}}</ref> He was granted conditional bail in the Central Local Court in Sydney.<ref>{{cite web |title=Sydney artist bailed on rape charges |website=9News |date=19 March 2020 |url=https://www.9news.com.au/national/sydney-artist-bailed-on-rape-charges/0fbf58e7-61ec-455c-b60a-2b084ded4069 |access-date=12 December 2024}}</ref>
In October 2024, Lister was found not guilty by a jury on four out of nine charges. The jury did not reach a verdict on the other five charges, and a retrial was scheduled for 2025. His identity was subject to a suppression order until 12 December 2024, when his name was revealed and published in news outlets.<ref>{{cite news |last1=Beazley |first1=Jordyn |title=Prominent Sydney artist Anthony Lister revealed as man found not guilty of two counts of rape |url=https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2024/dec/12/prominent-sydney-artist-anthony-lister-revealed-as-man-found-not-guilty-of-two-counts-of-rape-ntwnfb |access-date=12 December 2024 |work=The Guardian |date=12 December 2024}}</ref>
The suppression order was implemented in 2020 after Lister received death threats. During the 2024 trial, the media referred to Lister only as an unnamed "high-profile Sydney man" and was not permitted to publish other details that could potentially identify him. The judge who lifted the suppression order in December 2024 disagreed with characterising Lister as high-profile and suggested that he reduce his online presence to avoid further threats.<ref>{{cite news |last1=McKinnel |first1=Jamie |title=Artist Anthony Lister can be identified as man at centre of long-running sexual assault trial |url=https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-12-12/nsw-artist-anthony-lister-rape-sexual-assault-not-guilty/104497170 |access-date=13 December 2024 |work=ABC News |date=12 December 2024 |language=en-AU}}</ref>
