The '''Ang Mo Kio Group Representation Constituency''' is a five-member group representation constituency (GRC) in north-eastern Singapore. It has five divisions: Ang Mo Kio–Hougang, Buangkok–Fernvale South, Cheng San, Seletar–Serangoon and Teck Ghee, managed by Ang Mo Kio Town Council.<ref>{{Cite web |title=Ang Mo Kio Town Council |url=https://www.amktc.org.sg/home/index.html |access-date=29 August 2025}}</ref> The current Members of Parliament (MPs) for the constituency are Darryl David, Nadia Ahmad Samdin, Jasmin Lau, Victor Lye and Lee Hsien Loong from the governing People's Action Party (PAP).
== History == Ang Mo Kio GRC was created prior to the 1991 general election with four MPs. It was an amalgamation of the four single-member constituencies (SMCs) of Ang Mo Kio, Kebun Baru, Teck Ghee and Yio Chu Kang.<ref>{{Cite news |date=10 August 1991 |title=21 single-member wards, 15 GRCs for next election |url=https://eresources.nlb.gov.sg/newspapers/digitised/article/straitstimes19910810-1.2.27.9.1 |access-date=29 August 2025 |work=The Straits Times |via=NewspaperSG |quote=According to the committee's report, the changes have come about by grouping single-member wards into GRCs, such as merging Teck Ghee, Ang Mo Kio, Yio Chu Kang and Kebun Baru into one GRC – Ang Mo Kio GRC.}}</ref>
Prior to the 1997 general election, the GRC was expanded to have five members.<ref>{{Cite web |title=ELD {{!}} 1997 Parliamentary General Election Results |url=https://www.eld.gov.sg/elections_past_parliamentary1997.html |access-date=27 June 2025 |website=www.eld.gov.sg}}</ref> For the 2001 general election, it was expanded again to have six members to include the Cheng San and Jalan Kayu divisions from the former Cheng San GRC.<ref>{{Cite news |last=Wee |first=Desmond |date=18 October 2001 |title=Why Cheng San is no more |work=The Straits Times}}</ref>
During the 2006 general election, the GRC was considered a battleground as it faced its first electoral contest since its creation; all prior general elections had seen walkovers for the PAP. A group of Generation X candidates from the Workers' Party (WP), led by Yaw Shin Leong, was contesting against the PAP.<ref>{{cite news |date=27 April 2006 |title=The straight-forward fight |url=http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/print/205258/1/.html |url-status=live |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20070930221823/http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/print/205258/1/.html |archive-date=30 September 2007 |access-date=7 May 2007 |publisher=Channel NewsAsia}}</ref> Lee, the PAP anchor and then-Prime Minister, called the WP team a "suicide squad"; the WP team responded by claiming that they were not pushovers.<ref>{{cite news |date=30 April 2006 |title=WP team for Ang Mo Kio GRC prepared to lose to PM Lee's team |url=http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/print/205675/1/.html |url-status=live |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20071001044309/http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/print/205675/1/.html |archive-date=1 October 2007 |access-date=7 May 2007 |publisher=Channel NewsAsia}}</ref> The PAP won 66.14% of the vote.<ref name=":1" />
