==RAF career== Hesketh was commissioned into the Royal Air Force on 13 September 1918 during the First World War.<ref>{{London Gazette|issue=30905|page=11097|date=17 September 1918}}</ref> He became officer commanding, No. 150 Squadron in March 1939<ref name=air>{{cite web|url= https://www.rafweb.org/Biographies/Hesketh.htm|title=Air Vice Marshal A. Hesketh|publisher=Air of Authority - A History of RAF Organisation|accessdate=28 June 2020}}</ref> and served in the Second World War as base commander of No. 53 Base and then as base commander of No. 54 Base.<ref name=air/>
