== Biography == Anton was born on 2 July 1922. He served in the Gordon Highlanders from 1941 to 1945 and then attended the University of Aberdeen, where he graduated with a Master of Arts degree in 1946 and a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1949.<ref>Council of Europe, ''Yearbook of the European Convention on Human Rights'' (Martinus Nijhoff, 1984), p. 23.</ref> He then practised as a solicitor in Aberdeen for four years before working as a lecturer at the University of Aberdeen from 1953 to 1959.
