==Background== Afazuddin Fakir was born in 1925 at Nikrail in [[Bhuapur Upazila|Bhuapur]] in the then [[Mymensingh District]], [[Bengal Presidency|Bengal Province]], [[British India]] (now in [[Tangail District]], Bangladesh). He graduated from [[Government Saadat College|Karatia College]] in 1945 and started a jute business in [[Narayanganj]].<ref name="Nuruzzaman1968">{{cite book |last=Nuruzzaman |first=Mohammad |title=Who's Who |year=1968 |publisher=The Eastern Publications |oclc=46205 |page=22}}</ref>

Fakir was a member of the national committee.
