The ceremony marked the first time that four films received ten nominations or more, with ''[[1991 (film)|1991]]'' receiving sixteen nominations, a new record. The film won five awards including [[Prix Iris for Best Film|Best Film]], [[Prix Iris for Best Director|Best Director]] and [[Prix Iris for Best Supporting Actress|Best Supporting Actress]] for [[Sandrine Bisson]], who had previously won the same award for the same role for ''[[1981 (film)|1981]]''.
