It was the 110th edition of the annual [[Monte Carlo Masters]] tournament, sponsored by [[Rolex]] for the eighth time. It took place at the [[Monte Carlo Country Club]] in [[Roquebrune-Cap-Martin]], [[France]] (though billed as [[Monte Carlo]], [[Monaco]]).
