The final was played between [[Erbil SC|Erbil]] from [[Iraq Football Association|Iraq]] and [[Kuwait SC|Al-Kuwait]] from [[Kuwait Football Association|Kuwait]]. It was the first continental final to be hosted in Iraq since the first leg of the [[1988–89 Asian Club Championship#Final|1989 Asian Club Championship Final]].
