It was the 16th edition of the [[Qatar ExxonMobil Open]], and was part of the [[ATP International Series|International Series]] of the [[2008 ATP Tour]]. It took place at the [[Khalifa International Tennis Complex]] in [[Doha]], [[Qatar]], from 31 December 2007 through 5 January 2008.

The men's singles field was led by [[Association of Tennis Professionals|ATP]] No. 4, [[2007 U.S. Open – Men's singles#Finals|US Open semifinalist]] and [[2007 Kremlin Cup|Moscow]] champion [[Nikolay Davydenko]], [[2007 Open de Moselle|Metz]] titlist [[Tommy Robredo]], and [[2007 St. Petersburg Open|St. Petersburg]] winner and [[2007 Qatar ExxonMobil Open|2007 Doha]] runner-up [[Andy Murray]]. Among other top seeds competing were [[2007 Qatar ExxonMobil Open|Doha defending champion]] [[Ivan Ljubičić]], [[2007 Stockholm Open|Stockholm]] winner [[Ivo Karlović]], [[Philipp Kohlschreiber]], [[Igor Andreev]] and [[Dmitry Tursunov]].
