The ceremony was dominated by [[Denis Villeneuve]]'s ''[[Incendies]]'' which received eleven nominations in ten categories. It swept the awards by winning nine trophies, including [[Prix Iris for Best Film|Best Film]], [[Prix Iris for Best Director|Best Director]], [[Prix Iris for Best Screenplay|Best Screenplay]] and [[Prix Iris for Best Actress|Best Actress]] for [[Lubna Azabal]]. The only award it lost was [[Prix Iris for Most Successful Film Outside Quebec|Most Successful Film Outside Quebec]], which was won by [[Xavier Dolan]]'s ''[[Heartbeats (2010 film)|Heartbeats]] (Les amours imaginaires)''.

''[[Barney's Version (film)|Barney's Version]]'' was the only other film to take home multiple awards, winning [[Prix Iris for Best Makeup|Best Makeup]] and [[Prix Iris for Best Hair|Best Hair]].

[[Daniel Grou]] directed two films that received multiple nominations: ''[[7 Days (2010 film)|7 Days]] (Les sept jours du talion)'' was nominated for six awards, including [[Prix Iris for Best Supporting Actor|Best Supporting Actor]] for [[Martin Dubreuil]], while ''[[10½]]'' received four nominations including [[Prix Iris for Best Film|Best Film]], [[Prix Iris for Best Director|Best Director]] and [[Prix Iris for Best Actor|Best Actor]] for [[Claude Legault]] who eventually won the award.

Actor [[Jean Lapointe]] received the [[Prix Iris Tribute Award|Tribute Award]] for his lifetime achievements.
