***Zooni*** is an unreleased Indian [Hindi](/source/Hindi)-language film directed by [Muzaffar Ali](/source/Muzaffar_Ali), starring [Vinod Khanna](/source/Vinod_Khanna) and [Dimple Kapadia](/source/Dimple_Kapadia).[1][2][3] The film was in production from 1988 and was expected to be released in 1990. A [film restoration](/source/Film_restoration) undertaking was announced in 2024.[4][5][6]

## Plot

*Zooni* is a period film revolving around the sixteenth century Kashmiri poet [Habba Khatoon](/source/Habba_Khatoon) (1554–1609 CE; also known as Zooni), queen of [Yousuf Shah Chak](/source/Yousuf_Shah_Chak), the ruler of Kashmir. After he was arrested by Mughal emperor [Akbar](/source/Akbar) and banished to Bihar, he remained to be the last ruler of Kashmir.[7]
