**John Edgar Collins** (May 4, 1892 – December 19, 1983) was an American [Major League Baseball](/source/Major_League_Baseball) [outfielder](/source/Outfielder).

## Biography

He was born on May 4, 1892, in Brooklyn, New York. He played for the [Pittsburgh Pirates](/source/Pittsburgh_Pirates) during the and seasons, the [Boston Braves](/source/Boston_Braves_(baseball)) from to , and the [Philadelphia Athletics](/source/Philadelphia_Athletics) during the season.

In 281 games over five seasons, Collins posted a .253 [batting average](/source/Batting_average_(baseball)) (232-for-916) with 124 [runs](/source/Run_(baseball)), 2 [home runs](/source/Home_runs) and 63 [RBI](/source/Run_batted_in).
