'''ZickZack Schallplatten''' is a German [record label](/source/record_label) based in [Hamburg](/source/Hamburg). Founded by former "{{ill|Sounds|de|Sounds (deutsche Zeitschrift)}}" magazine journalist {{ill|Alfred Hilsberg|de||fr}} in 1980, it mainly distinguished itself by releasing acts from the underground side of [Neue Deutsche Welle](/source/Neue_Deutsche_Welle), a term coined by Hilsberg in his Sounds article ''"Neue Deutsche Welle - Aus grauer Städte Mauern"''.

Since then, the label has become a platform for many German [independent](/source/independent_music) bands. For example, they promoted [Blumfeld](/source/Blumfeld) and other influential bands of the ''[Hamburger Schule](/source/Hamburger_Schule)'' during the early 1990s.
