The '''Zeilberg''' is a hill, {{Höhe|463|DE-NHN}},<ref name="BfN-Karten">[http://www.bfn.de/0503_karten.html Kartendienste] {{webarchive |url=https://web.archive.org/web/20121219061530/http://www.bfn.de/0503_karten.html |date=December 19, 2012 }} des [BfN](/source/Bundesamt_f%C3%BCr_Naturschutz)</ref> in the [Haßberge Nature Park](/source/Ha%C3%9Fberge_Nature_Park) and county of [Haßberge](/source/Landkreis_Ha%C3%9Fberge) in eastern [Lower Franconia](/source/Lower_Franconia), about {{convert|2|km|mi}} east of [Maroldsweisach](/source/Maroldsweisach). It is one of the few still recognisable volcanoes of the [Heldburger Gangschar](/source/Heldburger_Gangschar) and gives its name to the ''Zeilberge'', which are the highest part of the [Itz-Baunach Hills](/source/Itz-Baunach_Hills) that are geologically part of the actual [Haßberge](/source/Ha%C3%9Fberge) to the west, but are separated from them by the [Baunach](/source/Baunach_(river)) valley.

The extinct [volcano](/source/volcano) is 16 million years old and is formed of [nephelinite](/source/nephelinite).<ref name="Oberleinleiter">[https://www.gdgh.de/berichte/b13/oberleinleiter_pop_1.pdf Der Vulkan von Oberleinleiter: Spuren eines Maars in der Nördlichen Frankenalb] (pdf; 2.6 MB) –
Gottfried Hofbauer, NHG Nürnberg (pdf, 2.47 MB)</ref> It has been reduced in height due to extraction from a basalt quarry.

== Tourism ==
An adventure trail runs around the basalt quarry. The ''Haus am Zeilberg'' is also a popular venue for events.
