***Zalman*** (Yiddish: זלמן), occasionally **Zalmen** is a Yiddish-language variant of [Solomon](/source/Solomon_(name)). The name was common among [European Jews](/source/European_Jews), and it still has usage in many [Haredi](/source/Haredi_Judaism) and especially [Hasidic](/source/Hasidic_Judaism) communities.[citation needed]
