==Etymology==
The name comes from [Slavic](/source/Slavic_languages) ''sadjati'': to settle (sediments). ''*Sadzava'': a river that carries many sediments, see i.e. [Czech](/source/Czech_Republic) [Sázava](/source/S%C3%A1zava_(river)).<ref name="varsik">{{cite book |last=Varsik |first=Branislav |title=Slovanské (slovenské) názvy riek na Slovensku a ich prevzatie Maďarmi v 10.-12. storočí|location=Bratislava|page=82|publisher=Slovenská akadémia vied |year=1990 |language=Slovak| ISBN=80-224-0163-3}}</ref>
