**Yves Hadley Desmarets** (born 19 July 1979) is a Haitian former professional [footballer](/source/Association_football) who played as a [left midfielder](/source/Left_midfielder).

He spent the vast majority of his professional career, which started at the age of 27, in Portugal, representing [Vitória de Guimarães](/source/Vit%C3%B3ria_S.C.) and [Belenenses](/source/C.F._Os_Belenenses) and amassing [Primeira Liga](/source/Primeira_Liga) totals of 86 games and eight goals over the course of three seasons, all with the former.

## Club career

Prior to his arrival in Portugal to sign with [Vitória de Guimarães](/source/Vit%C3%B3ria_S.C.) for the [2006–07 season](/source/2006%E2%80%9307_Liga_de_Honra) (with the club in the [second division](/source/Segunda_Liga), finally winning promotion), Paris-born Desmarets played the vast majority of his career in modest French clubs, never appearing in higher than the [third level](/source/Championnat_National). He quickly became an undisputed starter, contributing with four goals in all 30 [Primeira Liga](/source/Primeira_Liga) games as the [Minho](/source/Minho_Province) team overachieved for [a final third place in his second year](/source/2007%E2%80%9308_Primeira_Liga), ahead of [Benfica](/source/S.L._Benfica).

In June 2010, after only missing four league matches combined in two top level campaigns, adding four goals, 30-year-old Desmarets signed as a [free agent](/source/Free_agent) for one year with [Deportivo de La Coruña](/source/Deportivo_de_La_Coru%C3%B1a) in Spain, with an option for another one.[1][2] He only appeared in 12 [La Liga](/source/La_Liga) games during [the season](/source/2010%E2%80%9311_La_Liga) – 693 minutes of action – which finished in relegation.

After a failed trial with [Montreal Impact](/source/Montreal_Impact_(1992%E2%80%932011)), Desmarets joined [Kerkyra](/source/A.O._Kerkyra) in Greece for 2011–12, appearing in no official matches. In early July 2012, he signed for [Belenenses](/source/C.F._Os_Belenenses) on a [free transfer](/source/Free_transfer_(association_football)).[3]

## International career

Desmarets began appearing for [Haiti](/source/Haiti_national_football_team) at the age of nearly 34. His debut occurred on 8 June 2013 in [Miami](/source/Miami), as he played 85 minutes in a 2–1 loss against [Spain](/source/Spain_national_football_team).[4]
