# YouthWrite

**YouthWrite** is an Alberta-based writing camp for young people.[1] It bills itself as a "camp for kids who love to write... just about anything."[2] Founded in 1996 by [Gail Sidonie Sobat](/source/Gail_Sidonie_Sobat), it has been held at Kamp Kiwanis near [Bragg Creek](/source/Bragg_Creek), Alberta and the Bennett Centre in [Edmonton](/source/Edmonton), Alberta.

Some notable past instructors include [Todd Babiak](/source/Todd_Babiak), [Ted Bishop](/source/Ted_Bishop), [Anita Daher](/source/Anita_Daher), [Maria Dunn](/source/Maria_Dunn_(musician)), [Martyn Godfrey](/source/Martyn_Godfrey), [Myrna Kostash](/source/Myrna_Kostash), Clem Martini, [Anna Marie Sewell](https://prairiepomes.com/), [Vern Thiessen](/source/Vern_Thiessen), Thomas Trofimuk,[3] Terry Trueman, [Sheri-D Wilson](/source/Sheri-D_Wilson), and Spyder Yardley-Jones.

The [Spoken Word Youth Choir](/source/Spoken_Word_Youth_Choir) was founded at YouthWrite 2007.
