**Youssouf Sabaly** (born 5 March 1993) is a professional [footballer](/source/Association_football) who plays as a [right-back](/source/Right-back) for [Qatar Stars League](/source/Qatar_Stars_League) club [Al-Duhail](/source/Al-Duhail_SC). Born in France, he represents [Senegal](/source/Senegal_national_football_team) at international level.

## Club career

Sabaly made his [Ligue 1](/source/Ligue_1) debut with [Evian](/source/Thonon_%C3%89vian_F.C.) in the opening game of the 2013–14 season against [Sochaux-Montbéliard](/source/FC_Sochaux-Montb%C3%A9liard), playing the full game, which ended in a 1–1 draw.[2]

In August 2016, he agreed to a contract extension until 2020, before joining [Bordeaux](/source/FC_Girondins_de_Bordeaux) on a season-long loan.[3]

On 7 June 2021, Sabaly signed for [La Liga](/source/La_Liga) club [Real Betis](/source/Real_Betis) on a free transfer, effective from 1 July.[4][5][6]

## International career

Sabaly was born in France to Senegalese parents.[7] He has represented France at various youth levels, and was a member of the [victorious squad](/source/France_national_under-20_football_team) at the [2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup](/source/2013_FIFA_U-20_World_Cup).[8]

In 2017, Sabaly received his first call-up from [Senegal](/source/Senegal_national_football_team).[9] He made his debut in a 2–0 [2018 FIFA World Cup qualification](/source/2018_FIFA_World_Cup_qualification) win over [South Africa](/source/South_Africa_national_football_team) on 10 November 2017.[10]

In May 2018, he was named in Senegal's 23-man squad for the [2018 FIFA World Cup](/source/2018_FIFA_World_Cup) in Russia.[11]

Subsequently, Sabaly was called up to the [2019 Africa Cup of Nations](/source/2019_Africa_Cup_of_Nations), where Senegal finished as runners-up after a 1–0 defeat to [Algeria](/source/Algeria_national_football_team) in the [final](/source/2019_Africa_Cup_of_Nations_Final); Sabaly would end up being elected into the team of the tournament.

Salaby played in all four of Senegal's matches at the [2022 FIFA World Cup](/source/2022_FIFA_World_Cup) as the nation reached the round of 16 for the first time since its debut in [2002](/source/2002_FIFA_World_Cup).[12]

In December 2023, he was named in Senegal's squad for the postponed [2023 Africa Cup of Nations](/source/2023_Africa_Cup_of_Nations) held in the [Ivory Coast](/source/Ivory_Coast).[13]
