"**You Gots to Chill**" is a song by [EPMD](/source/EPMD), released as a single from their 1988 debut album *[Strictly Business](/source/Strictly_Business_(EPMD_album))*. It reached number 22 on the U.S. [R&B chart](/source/Hot_R%26B%2FHip-Hop_Songs). The song prominently features a sample from "[More Bounce to the Ounce](/source/More_Bounce_to_the_Ounce)" by [Zapp](/source/Zapp_(band)) and "[Jungle Boogie](/source/Jungle_Boogie)" by [Kool & the Gang](/source/Kool_%26_the_Gang). This song is widely considered a hip hop classic and has been paid homage by various rappers who have quoted the lyrics to this song in their own music, including [Snoop Dogg](/source/Snoop_Dogg) and [LL Cool J](/source/LL_Cool_J), among others. It was number 74 on VH1's 100 Greatest Hip Hop Songs.

## Music video

The official music video was directed by [Adam Bernstein](/source/Adam_Bernstein), who would also direct the video for "[So Wat Cha Sayin'](/source/So_Wat_Cha_Sayin')" a year later.[1]
