Yockleton is near to [Ford](/source/Ford%2C_Shropshire) (to its north) and Westbury (to its west), and lies in the Westbury [civil parish](/source/civil_parishes_in_England); the hamlets of Edge and Farley (both in [Pontesbury](/source/Pontesbury) parish) lie due south of the village, and [Nox](/source/Nox%2C_Shropshire) is to the east.

There is one local pub, the Yockleton Arms<ref>{{Cite web |url=http://yockletonarms.com/ |title=Pub website |access-date=11 July 2009 |archive-date=8 February 2011 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110208093557/http://www.yockletonarms.com/ |url-status=dead }}</ref> (formerly the Pink Elephant), several miles west on the B4386, a 19th-century village church ([C of E](/source/Church_of_England)) dedicated to the [Holy Trinity](/source/Holy_Trinity),<ref>[http://yockletonchurch.co.uk/ Church]</ref> and a village hall, as well as an old people's home called Yockleton Grange in the old Vicarage. There is a [Motte and Bailey](/source/Motte_and_Bailey) in a field not far from the church.

Previously Yockleton had a school, a garage, a [post office](/source/post_office) and a pub in the heart of the village. These have closed as the village has developed into a commuter village for Shrewsbury. 

Previously served by [Yockleton railway station](/source/Yockleton_railway_station) on the [Cambrian Line](/source/Cambrian_Line). The station closed in 1960.<ref>Railway Passenger Stations by M.Quick page 444</ref>
